The Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISOCAS), established on March 1, 1985, is a comprehensive research institute dedicated to the study and development of computer science theory and software high-tech. The institute is located at No. 4 South Fourth Street, Zhongguancun, Haidian District, Beijing, within the Chinese Academy of Sciences Software Park.
The institute comprises four research divisions—the Software Basic Research Division, the Software High-Tech Research Division, the Software Application Research Division, and the Software Development Research Division—as well as an Administrative Division. It has assembled a group of scientists with profound academic achievements and international renown, and boasts a high-quality, high-level team of young scientific and technological talents.
The Institute is one of the institutions approved by the State Council’s Degree Committee to confer doctoral and master’s degrees. It currently offers doctoral programs in three first-level disciplines: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, and Cyberspace Security, as well as a professional degree program in Software Engineering. It also operates two first-level discipline postdoctoral research stations in Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering.
The institute actively participates in regional and international exchanges and cooperation, having established extensive scientific and technological exchanges and collaborations with numerous provinces and municipalities in China, as well as over 40 countries and regions worldwide, including the United States, Europe, Japan, and Australia. The Secretariat of the Chinese Society for Chinese Information Processing, the Cryptography Algorithm Professional Committee of the Chinese Cryptography Society, the Software-Defined Promotion Committee of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and the Energy Intelligence Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering are affiliated with the Institute of Software. The institute publishes the academic journals [Journal of Software, Journal of Chinese Information Processing, Computer Systems Applications, and International Journal of Software and Informatics.
