
Ningbo Sixth Hospital was established in June 2001 and is a tertiary-level Grade A orthopedic specialty hospital in Zhejiang Province, serving as the regional orthopedic specialty center for the Zhejiang East region. The hospital has established a comprehensive system of orthopedic subspecialties, including the Hand Microsurgery and Reconstruction Center, Trauma Orthopedics Center, Spinal Surgery Center, Joint and Sports Medicine Center, Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Aesthetic Medicine Center, Pediatric Orthopedics, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Bone Tumor (Bone Disease) and Bone Infection Department, Internal Medicine, and Rehabilitation Department, among others. The departmental structure is complete, The hospital has distinct specialty characteristics and strong technical capabilities, with orthopedic diagnostic and treatment levels reaching the leading level in the province and the advanced level nationally. Microsurgery (hand surgery) is a provincial-level key supported discipline in Zhejiang Province, and orthopedic surgery is the first batch of provincial-municipal co-built medical key disciplines; orthopedics is the 2022 provincial-level clinical key specialty construction project; anesthesiology and sports medicine are the fourth round of Ningbo municipal-county co-built medical key disciplines; and nursing is the fourth round of Ningbo municipal medical key supported disciplines. The hospital has established an Academician Innovation and Technology Center and a provincial-level postdoctoral workstation, and has been approved for one major breakthrough project for high-level medical teams in Ningbo City. It has consistently achieved an A-grade rating in the national performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals for six consecutive years.
The hospital has five national-level platforms: the core unit of the National Clinical Research Center for Orthopedics and Sports Rehabilitation, the first batch of National Clinical Center Smart Orthopedics Training Bases, the National Health Commission’s Capacity Building and Continuing Education Orthopedic Surgery Specialized Training Base, the first batch of National Health Commission Accelerated Rehabilitation Surgery Orthopedic Pilot Hospitals, and the China Trauma Rescue Alliance Advanced Trauma Center.
The hospital currently has over 1,300 staff members, including 306 with senior titles, 30 PhDs, 204 master’s degrees, and 30 master’s and PhD advisors. It has one vice-chairman and 17 standing committee members of national-level academic societies; one chairman, one incoming chairman, nine vice-chairmen, and three standing committee members of provincial-level academic societies; and three chairmen of municipal-level academic societies.
